Dr Geoffrey Leader is a graduate of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in London. His comprehensive background as a Consultant Anaesthetist has included Directorships of Intensive Care and Pain Units. He is a leading pioneer in the multi-disciplinary management of chronic neurological illness and pain management and was honoured in the USA with the “Quality of Life in Parkinson’s Award”.

Dr Geoffrey Leader is particularly interested in the intravenous nutritional support of patients with Parkinson’s Disease as well as the specialised details of their management during anaesthesia and sedation, including detoxification from anaesthetic drugs.

He is also qualified as a Nutrition Practitioner and posts have included that of Medical Director of The London Pain Relief and Nutritional Support Clinic which used to operate in Highgate Hospital in London UK  as well as  the Parkinson’s Disease Integrated Nutrition Clinic.  

His mission is the optimization of functional health of people with Parkinson’s Disease.

Dr Geoffrey Leader is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine in London UK. He has held senior academic posts internationally. In the UK he was Chairman of the Anaesthetic Department, Head of Intensive Care and Pain Clinic at Newham General Hospital, London and Senior Lecturer and Honorary Senior Consultant at The Royal London Hospital Medical College. In South Africa he held academic appointments at Natal and Witwatersrand Universities and in The Netherlands at The University of Erasmus.

He has been published in anaesthetic peer journals and is co-author and editor of successful books on Parkinson’s Disease including www.denorpress.com

He has presented papers on anaesthetic subjects at international congresses and has published in prestigious anaesthetic journals including Anaesthesia and Dutch anaesthetic journals. His Parkinson’s Disease Congress presentations include:

    • “The Intravenous Aspects of Nutritional Support in Parkinson’s Disease” at the Parkinson’s Disease Congress for Nutrition and Sexuality in Vienna.

 

    • “Nutritional Therapy and Cellular Environment in Parkinson’s Disease”at the ground-breaking Parkinson’s symposium “Meeting of the Minds” in the United States.

 

  • “Specialised Nutritional Management in Parkinson’s Disease”at the 5th Multi-disciplinary Conference of the European Parkinson’s Disease Association (EPDA) in Portugal.
